Description: Provides management objects for external management interface configuration on Cisco UCS/Firepower fabric interconnects.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-FIREPOWER-EXTMGMT-MIB?

CISCO-FIREPOWER-EXTMGMT-MIB is part of the Cisco UCS/Firepower model-based MIB family covering the external management interface used for out-of-band administration of the fabric interconnect. It exposes configuration objects for ARP-based gateway/target reachability checks used to detect external management link failures and trigger high-availability failover of the management interface. This is a hardware/network-status MIB in that it directly reports whether the external management path is healthy, including configuration state and status messages describing any detected fault. As with sibling Firepower MIBs, it shares Cisco UCS Manager's common Dn/Rn/InstanceId object model rather than an external IETF dependency. It is deployed on Cisco UCS/Firepower fabric interconnects where administrators need reliable detection of out-of-band management connectivity loss. Engineers can download the CISCO-FIREPOWER-EXTMGMT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-FIREPOWER-EXTMGMT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco UCS/Firepower fabric interconnects

Monitoring Examples

An admin can poll cfprExtmgmtArpTargetsTable/cfprExtmgmtArpTargetsEntry to read cfprExtmgmtArpTargetsConfigState and cfprExtmgmtArpTargetsConfigStatusMessage, which reveal whether ARP-based reachability checks against cfprExtmgmtArpTargetsTargetIp1/2/3 are succeeding; a rising cfprExtmgmtArpTargetsNumberOfArpRequests with no successful reply typically indicates the external management network path has failed and a failover may be imminent.

What Can Be Monitored

  • external management link ARP reachability state
  • config status messages
  • ARP request counts
  • target gateway IP addresses
  • failover deadline timeout
