Description: Huawei LAN switch interface MIB providing port configuration, speed/duplex settings, and interface counters for Huawei fixed-configuration switches.

What Is HUAWEI-LswINF-MIB?

HUAWEI-LswINF-MIB is a Huawei private MIB (hwLswL2InfMib, under the lswCommon enterprise branch) that extends standard interface management for Huawei fixed-configuration LAN switches, providing port-level configuration and statistics beyond IF-MIB. It augments ifEntry via hwifXXTable with objects for aggregation/mirror/VLAN-trunk port identification (hwifAggregatePort, hwifMirrorPort, hwifVLANType), broadcast/multicast/unicast storm-suppression controls in both percentage and pps/bandwidth modes, and traffic counters such as hwifInPkts, hwifOutPkts, and hwifInErrorPktsRate. Companion tables cover link aggregation (hwifAggregateTable), 802.1Q hybrid-port tagged/untagged VLAN lists (hwifHybridPortTable), combo copper/fiber port active-media selection (hwifComboPortTable), Ethernet-specific settings like duplex, MTU, speed, and MAC-learning mode (hwethernetTable), and port-isolation groups (hwPortIsolateGroupTable). This MIB gives operators visibility into per-port suppression thresholds and traffic health that plain IF-MIB counters do not expose, useful for diagnosing broadcast storms or misconfigured aggregation/isolation groups, and it depends on IF-MIB for the underlying ifIndex/ifEntry it augments and on HUAWEI-3COM-OID-MIB for its enterprise OID root. Administrators can perform a HUAWEI-LswINF-MIB download to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-LswINF-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei fixed-configuration LAN switches (S-series access switches)

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls hwifXXEntry (AUGMENTS ifEntry) to check hwifInErrorPktsRate and hwifMulSuppression on a port; a rising error-packet rate alongside a saturated multicast-suppression counter would indicate a broadcast/multicast storm being actively clamped on that interface.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-port broadcast/multicast/unicast suppression thresholds
  • aggregation/mirror/isolation port role flags
  • hybrid-port tagged/untagged VLAN membership
  • combo port active-media (fiber/copper) state
  • Ethernet duplex/speed/MDI and MAC-learning mode
  • inbound/outbound packet and error-rate counters

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using hwifOutPayloadOctets OID:

Select a Huawei fixed-configuration LAN switch (S-series access switch, extended port stats) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type hwifOutPayloadOctets into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. The actual output octets of the interface. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter64-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases sharply between polls relative to its normal baseline, since an unexpected spike often reflects a real change in traffic or activity. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
