Description: Each node in the Intelligent Protection Switching (IPS) is one of the following states. Idle - In this mode the node is ready to perform protection and it sends to both neighboring nodes idle IPS messages, which include self in the source address field {0, SELF, 0, S}.
PassThrough - Node participate in a protection switch by passing the wrapped traffic and long path signalling through itself. This state is entered based on received IPS messages.
Wrapped - Node participate in a protection switch with a wrap present. This state is entered based on protection request issued locally or based on received IPS messages.
When interface is down the value for IPS state is passThrough.
What is srpIpsState?
This object is this node's current Intelligent Protection Switching state, idle when ready to protect and exchanging idle IPS messages, passThrough when relaying wrapped traffic and signaling for a protection switch elsewhere on the ring, or wrapped when this node itself has looped traffic back due to a detected fault. On an SRP dual-ring topology, this state tells the admin whether the ring's self-healing wrap mechanism is currently protecting traffic through this specific node, and if this node shows wrapped, it means this exact point on the ring detected the fault that triggered protection. srpIpsState showing wrapped(3) on this specific node, while other nodes on the ring show passThrough(2), identifies this node as the one adjacent to the actual fiber cut or node failure that triggered the ring's protection switch.
