What Is CIENA-CES-OAM-MIB?

CIENA-CES-OAM-MIB is a Ciena enterprise MIB that instruments Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) Operations, Administration and Maintenance (OAM) per IEEE 802.3ah on Ciena CES Carrier Ethernet switches. It exposes EFM OAM statistics and the objects needed to generate related notifications, covering link-level OAM protocol data unit (PDU) exchange, remote loopback, and fault indications between directly connected link partners. Its monitoring focus is on the software/protocol-level health of the physical link, letting operators detect degraded or failing links via OAM error counters and fault notifications before a full link-down event occurs. It builds on the IEEE 802.3ah EFM OAM standard as its foundation. It is used in access-network deployments where CES switches terminate customer-facing or last-mile Ethernet links requiring proactive link-fault detection. Engineers can download the CIENA-CES-OAM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
