Description: The maximum size of OAMPDU supported by the peer as reflected in the latest Information OAMPDU received with a Local Information TLV. Ethernet OAM on this interface must not use OAMPDUs that exceed this size. The maximum OAMPDU size can be determined from the PDU Configuration field of the Local Information TLV of the last Information OAMPDU received from the peer. This value is initialized to 64, and is invalid if the cienaCesOamPeerStatus is inactive.
An Information OAMPDU is indicated by a valid frame with (1) destination MAC address equal to that of the reserved MAC address for Slow Protocols (See 43B of [802.3ah]), (2) a lengthOrType field equal to the reserved type for Slow Protocols, (3) a Slow Protocols subtype equal to that of the subtype reserved for OAM, and (4) an OAM code that equals the code reserved for Information OAMPDUs.
What is cienaCesOamPeerMaxOamPduSize?
This read-only Integer32, in bytes, reports the maximum OAMPDU size the peer advertised in its most recent Information OAMPDU, per its description, and the local interface must not exceed this size when sending OAMPDUs to that peer. This value, compared against the local device's own cienaCesMaxOamPduSize, determines which of the two smaller limits actually governs the session; a peer that advertises a small maximum effectively caps how much data any single OAM frame, like a variable response, can carry. An engineer seeing OAM variable responses arrive fragmented or limited in content would check this field to see if the peer's advertised PDU size is unusually small.
