Module: CIENA-CES-OAM-MIB
OID (symbolic): CIENA-CES-OAM-MIB::cienaCesOamLoopbackControlRx
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1271.2.3.5.1.1.1.1.6
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: Counter32
Access: read-only
Description: A count of the number of Loopback Control OAMPDUs transmitted on this interface.
An Loopback Control OAMPDU is indicated by a valid frame with (1) destination MAC address equal to that of the reserved MAC address for Slow Protocols (See 43B of [802.3ah]), (2) a lengthOrType field equal to the reserved type for Slow Protocols, (3) a Slow Protocols subtype equal to that of the subtype reserved for OAM, and (4) an OAMPDU code equal to the OAM Loopback Control code.
Discontinuities of this counter can occur at re-initialization of the management system, and at other times as indicated by the value of the ifCounterDiscontinuityTime.
What is cienaCesOamLoopbackControlRx?
This Counter32 (frames) is documented, per its apparently copy-pasted description, the same way as the transmit counter, but by its name and position in the table it counts Loopback Control OAMPDUs received on this interface rather than sent. This kind of received-loopback-command counter is what an OAM peer's local client would check to see whether it is being asked to enter or exit a remote loopback state by the far end. A technician noticing this counter increment unexpectedly should treat it as a remote-initiated loopback request landing on this port, and verify locally whether cienaCesOamLoopbackIgnoreRx is set to 'ignore' if that request should not be honored.
