Description: The Vendor Info of the OAM peer as reflected in the latest Information OAMPDU received with a Local Information TLV. The vendor information field is within the Local Information TLV, and can be used to determine additional information about the peer entity. The format of the vendor information is unspecified within the 32-bit field. This value is initialized to all zero. This value is invalid if the cienaCesOamPeerStatus is inactive.
An Information OAMPDU is indicated by a valid frame with (1) destination MAC address equal to that of the reserved MAC address for Slow Protocols (See 43B of [802.3ah]), (2) a lengthOrType field equal to the reserved type for Slow Protocols, (3) a Slow Protocols subtype equal to that of the subtype reserved for OAM, and (4) an OAM code that equals the code reserved for Information OAMPDUs.
What is cienaCesOamPeerVendorInfo?
This read-only Unsigned32 carries the peer's vendor-specific information field from its most recent Information OAMPDU's Local Information TLV, per its description, whose internal format and meaning are defined by the peer vendor rather than by this MIB. Because the encoding is vendor-specific, this field is most useful when the local device and its peer are made by the same vendor and the operator has documentation decoding what the value means, such as a hardware revision or capability flag. An engineer connecting two Ciena devices might use this field, per Ciena's own vendor-info encoding, to extract additional peer detail beyond what the standard OAM fields expose; against a third-party peer, the value is typically not decodable.
