What Is CIENA-CES-ACCESS-LIST-MIB?

CIENA-CES-ACCESS-LIST-MIB manages hardware access control lists (ACLs) for traffic filtering on Ciena CES (Carrier Ethernet Switch) platforms. Based on its module description, it exposes objects letting administrators view ACL profile and rule configuration and monitor per-rule traffic statistics, i.e., how many packets/frames match a given filtering rule. This is a configuration-plus-traffic-counter MIB: administrators verify that intended ACL rules are correctly applied and use per-rule hit/match statistics to confirm filtering is actually taking effect, or to catch a rule that isn't matching any traffic, suggesting a misconfiguration, and to spot unexpectedly high match counts that could indicate unwanted or malicious traffic being filtered. It is a Ciena-specific private MIB and typically depends on the platform's interface/port MIBs to map ACL rules to specific ports. It is deployed on Ciena CES Carrier Ethernet switches in service-provider Carrier Ethernet access and aggregation networks.
