Module: CIENA-CES-OAM-MIB
OID (symbolic): CIENA-CES-OAM-MIB::cienaCesOamLoopbackIgnoreRx
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1271.2.3.5.1.1.6.1.4
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-only
Description: Since OAM loopback is a disruptive operation (user traffic does not pass), this attribute provides a mechanism to provide controls over whether received OAM loopback commands are processed or ignored. When the value is ignore(1), received loopback commands are ignored. When the value is process(2), OAM loopback commands are processed. The default value is to ignore loopback commands (ignore(1)).
The attribute has no meaning if the local OAM entity does not support the loopback function (as defined in cienaCesOamFunctionsSupported).
What is cienaCesOamLoopbackIgnoreRx?
This read-only INTEGER, ignore or process, controls whether this interface honors or discards remote loopback commands received from its OAM peer, per its description, existing specifically because a received loopback puts the local port into a disruptive, traffic-halting state that the local operator may not want to allow. Setting this to ignore(1) effectively immunizes a port against being remotely looped by a peer, which matters on links to less-trusted or third-party equipment where an accidental or malicious loopback command could take down live traffic. An operator managing a UNI handed off to a customer's equipment would set this to ignore so the customer's device can't remotely loop the provider's port and disrupt other traffic sharing that access node.
