What Is ACC-XNS?
ACC-XNS is an enterprise MIB for ACC/Ericsson routers covering the Xerox Network Systems (XNS) protocol, including protocol configuration and routing table objects for XNS-based networks. It exposes objects for XNS interface/protocol configuration and an XNS routing table showing known XNS network numbers and next-hop routing information. As a legacy-protocol MIB its main monitoring value is confirming the XNS routing table is populated correctly and that routes to expected XNS networks remain present and stable, a proxy for the routing software's health on that protocol. It would be used alongside general routing and interface MIBs on the same router for complete visibility, since XNS itself is largely superseded by IP-based routing. It is deployed on ACC/Ericsson routers maintained in legacy XNS network environments that have not yet migrated fully to IP. Engineers can download the ACC-XNS file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ACC-XNS. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
What Can Be Monitored
- XNS routing table entries
- XNS network reachability
- XNS protocol/interface configuration
Supported Devices
- ACC/Ericsson router (legacy XNS network)
Monitoring Examples
An administrator polls the XNS routing table to confirm routes to all expected remote XNS networks are present and that no route unexpectedly ages out or disappears. A missing route entry for a previously reachable XNS network would indicate a routing adjacency failure or a link outage on the path to that network.
