Description: Manages ATM connection (PVC/SVC) provisioning and status for voice bearer channels on Cisco VISM MGX modules.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-VISM-CONN-MIB?

CISCO-VISM-CONN-MIB is a Cisco Systems proprietary MIB reporting configuration and connection state for VISM (Voice Interworking Service Module) cards on Cisco MGX WAN switches, which require one active AAL5 bearer PVC and one active AAL5 control PVC between the VISM card and the PXM controller to carry VoIP traffic. Its channel table, keyed by channel number, reports row status, port number, local/remote loopback state, test type/state/round-trip-delay result, and PVC type. As a hardware/software-status MIB it lets an administrator confirm a VISM channel's bearer/control PVCs are up and loopback tests are passing when diagnosing a VoIP call-quality or connectivity issue. It is deployed on Cisco MGX WAN switches with VISM cards providing VoIP interworking. Engineers can download the CISCO-VISM-CONN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-VISM-CONN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco MGX WAN switches with VISM (Voice Interworking Service Module) cards

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks vismChanRTDResult after running a loopback test on a channel reporting call-quality complaints, to confirm round-trip delay across the VISM-to-PXM PVC path is within acceptable bounds.

What Can Be Monitored

  • VISM channel PVC type/status
  • loopback test state and round-trip delay
