Description: AIS suppression can be enabled(true) or disabled(false). When AIS suppression is disabled on a PVC, ATM network alarms on that PVC will immediately propagate to the TDM side and cause T1/E1 line alarms. When AIS suppression is enabled on a PVC, ATM network alarms will not propagate to the TDM side and cause T1/E1 line alarms for the duration of the AIS delay time setting. However, if the ATM network alarms persist causing the AIS delay timer to expire, the ATM network alarms will be allowed to propagate onto the TDM side and cause T1/E1 line alarms.
What is vismChanAisSuppression?
This read-write TruthValue object enables or disables AIS suppression on a PVC; when disabled, ATM network alarms immediately propagate to the TDM side causing T1/E1 line alarms, while enabling it prevents that propagation for the duration set by vismChanAisDelayTime, unless the ATM alarm persists past that delay. This lets an admin prevent brief, transient ATM-side network blips from unnecessarily tripping T1/E1 line alarms downstream on the TDM interface. An engineer troubleshooting spurious T1/E1 alarms triggered by momentary ATM network hiccups would enable this suppression to filter out short-lived events while still catching genuinely persistent alarms.
