What Is Nortel-MsCarrier-MscPassport-FrameRelayDteMIB?
This Nortel MIB manages Frame Relay DTE interface configuration and per-DLCI data on the Nortel MsCarrier MscPassport multiservice switching platform, part of Nortel's carrier-grade switch family. It exposes row-status-controlled Frame Relay DTE configuration tables, a customer-identifier table for provisioning correlation, and interface entry tables tying DLCIs to logical framer/interface components. For monitoring, mscFrDteRowStatus reveals whether a given Frame Relay DTE component is active and correctly provisioned, while the customer-identifier data supports tracking which circuits belong to which customer for fault isolation. It is a proprietary MIB specific to Nortel's MscPassport component-based architecture, depending on the underlying frameRelayDteMIB module structure and Nortel's generic component/row-status conventions. Typically deployed on Nortel MscPassport multiservice switches in carrier Frame Relay/WAN service networks, where engineers can get the Nortel-MsCarrier-MscPassport-FrameRelayDteMIB download to load into their MIB browser for provisioning checks.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Nortel-MsCarrier-MscPassport-FrameRelayDteMIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Nortel MscPassport multiservice switches
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll mscFrDteRowStatusTable/mscFrDteRowStatusEntry keyed by mscFrDteIndex to confirm each Frame Relay DTE component's mscFrDteRowStatus is active rather than notInService or notReady, which would indicate a provisioning failure. Cross-referencing mscFrDteCidDataTable's mscFrDteCustomerIdentifier against mscFrDteIfEntryTable entries lets an operator quickly identify which customer's circuit is affected when a particular DTE framer (mscFrDteFramer) reports a fault.
What Can Be Monitored
- Frame Relay DTE component row status
- customer identifier per circuit
- DTE interface/framer configuration
- storage type of DTE components

If a component has a cid attribute, the component's CID is the provisioned value of that attribute; otherwise the component inherits the CID of its parent. The top- level component has a CID of 0. Every operator session also has a CID, which is the CID provisioned for the operator's user ID. An operator will see only the stream data for components having a matching CID. Also, the operator will be allowed to issue commands for only those components which have a matching CID. An operator CID of 0 is used to identify the Network Manager (referred to as 'NetMan' in DPN). This CID matches the CID of any component. Values 1 to 8191 inclusive (equivalent to 'basic CIDs' in DPN) may be assigned to specific customers. |
