What Is Nortel-MsCarrier-MscPassport-TextualConventionsMIB?
This module defines Nortel-specific (non-standard) ASN.1 textual conventions shared across the MsCarrier Passport MIB family for MainStreet Carrier WAN/ATM switching platforms. Like its 'Standard' counterpart, it contains no runtime data objects; the sample content (textualConventionsGroup and nested capability/group nodes) reflects conformance/grouping constructs used to define and validate type usage, not live device state. It has no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status; it exists purely to give other Passport-family MIBs consistent custom data types. It is a foundational dependency for functional MsCarrier Passport MIB modules alongside the Standard Textual Conventions MIB. It's deployed with legacy Nortel Passport carrier WAN switches in telecom/service-provider settings, and because it defines only types rather than object instances, there is no Nortel-MsCarrier-MscPassport-TextualConventionsMIB OID that returns pollable data on its own.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Nortel-MsCarrier-MscPassport-TextualConventionsMIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Nortel/Alcatel-Lucent Passport (MainStreet Carrier) WAN/ATM switches
Monitoring Examples
This is a textual-conventions/conformance-only module with no runtime tables or scalars, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe; its custom type definitions are consumed by other MsCarrier Passport MIBs that expose actual pollable data.
