mscFrDteStDlciExcessBurstAction

Module: Nortel-MsCarrier-MscPassport-FrameRelayDteMIB

OID (symbolic): Nortel-MsCarrier-MscPassport-FrameRelayDteMIB::mscFrDteStDlciExcessBurstAction

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.562.36.2.1.101.6.10.1.6

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This attribute specifies the action taken when the committedBurst size has been exceeded on the DLCI but the excessBurst size has not. If the attribute is set to setDeBit, the Discard Eligibility bit in the Frame Relay header will be turned on. If the attribute is set to none, no action will be taken.

What is mscFrDteStDlciExcessBurstAction?

This read-write value picks what happens when a statically provisioned DLCI (StDlci) exceeds its committed burst but stays within its excess burst: setDeBit marks the Discard Eligibility bit in the Frame Relay header (asking the carrier's network to drop it first under congestion, rather than an interior device dropping it outright), while none (the default) takes no special action. An admin sets this to setDeBit to cooperate with the carrier's own congestion handling instead of relying solely on local discard behavior.
