mscFrDteLinkOperState

Module: Nortel-MsCarrier-MscPassport-FrameRelayDteMIB

OID (symbolic): Nortel-MsCarrier-MscPassport-FrameRelayDteMIB::mscFrDteLinkOperState

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.562.36.2.1.101.25.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: This attribute describes the operational state of the Link Control protocol. If the interface to the physical link hardware is inactive, the linkOperState is in the down state.

The polling state only occurs when the Local Management Interface (LMI) is enabled and the physical link is active. The polling state indicates LMI is polling for its peer. Once communication is established the linkOperState will transition to the active state.

If the procedure attribute of the Lmi component is set to none, linkOperState will transition to the active state once the physical link becomes active.

What is mscFrDteLinkOperState?

This read-only value reports the operational state of the Frame Relay link-control protocol on this interface: down means the physical link hardware itself is inactive, polling means the Local Management Interface (LMI) is up and actively polling its peer to establish communication, and active means LMI communication with the far end is established (or, if LMI procedures are set to none, the link is simply up). An admin stuck on a circuit that never comes fully up uses this to tell whether the problem is at the physical layer (stuck in down) or in LMI signalling (stuck in polling).
