What Is CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-FAULT-MIB?

This Cisco UCS MIB represents the FAULT package of the UCS Manager information model, tracking the fault lifecycle, severity, probable cause, and soak (debounce) policies for alarms raised across any managed object in a UCS domain. It exposes fault/alarm data directly: active fault entries and the class of UCS managed object each fault affects, whether that's a blade, chassis, power supply, fan module, or I/O module. Its monitoring emphasis is the broadest of the UCS MIB family for hardware/software health - it is effectively the central alarm table for the entire UCS domain, surfacing hardware faults (fans, power supplies, blades) and software/task faults alike with severity and probable cause. It correlates with every other CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-* MIB, since fault entries reference the distinguished name and managed-object class of the component at fault defined elsewhere in the family. Typical deployment is as the primary fault/alarm feed integrated into a NOC dashboard monitoring a UCS Manager-managed blade domain. Engineers can download the CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-FAULT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

cucsFaultHolderTable/cucsFaultHolderEntry rows, keyed by cucsFaultHolderInstanceId and identified by cucsFaultHolderDn/cucsFaultHolderRn/cucsFaultHolderName, represent individual active faults, while cucsFaultAffectedClassTable/cucsFaultAffectedClassEntry with cucsFaultAffectedClassMoClassId identifies which UCS managed-object class - such as a power supply, fan module, or blade - a given fault applies to. An admin polling cucsFaultHolderTable to see all currently active faults across a UCS domain would cross-reference cucsFaultAffectedClassMoClassId to pinpoint whether a fault is on a specific PSU, fan, or blade component before dispatching a technician.
