This is the field a NOC dashboard uses to distinguish faults that have already been triaged by someone, acknowledged and being worked, from faults nobody has looked at yet, which matters for on-call escalation policies that only page on unacknowledged faults. A value of false on a high-severity fault that's been open for an hour would likely trigger an escalation, whereas true would suppress further paging on that specific fault since someone's already handling it.
