Description: MIB for signal retimer modules on SmartOptics SiteLight optical transport equipment, providing configuration, status, and performance monitoring for retimed interfaces
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is SL-RETIMER-MIB?
SL-RETIMER-MIB is a Smartoptics SiteLight MIB for signal retimer modules, which regenerate and retime optical/electrical signals to extend reach or clean up jitter on a transport line. It exposes per-line retimer configuration, a PM-counter reset control, and a current-interval performance table tracking retimed-signal errored seconds such as RLL (run-length-limited) and K28.5 (SONET/OC framing character) errored seconds. Its monitoring focus is signal-quality/hardware performance status: an operator watches these error-second counters to detect a degrading retimer module or upstream signal-quality problem before it affects service, and uses the PM reset after maintenance to get a clean baseline. It shares the same performance-monitoring interval philosophy used elsewhere in the SiteLight MIB family (e.g., the Ethernet and Fibre Channel modules), reflecting a common PM data model across interface types. It is deployed on SiteLight optical transport links where signal retiming is used to extend distance or improve signal integrity. Engineers can download the SL-RETIMER-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SL-RETIMER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Smartoptics SiteLight optical transport equipment (signal retimer module)
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll slRetimerCurrentTable/slRetimerCurrentEntry (indexed by slRetimerCurrentIndex) to watch slRetimerCurrentRxRllES and slRetimerCurrentRxK285ES for rising errored-second counts, which would indicate a degrading retimed signal on that line. slRetimerConfigTable (indexed by slRetimerLineIndex) confirms the retimer's configuration matches intent, and issuing slRetimerResetPmCounters after a fiber repair clears the counters so subsequent readings reflect only post-repair performance.
What Can Be Monitored
- retimed-signal errored seconds (RLL/K28.5)
- retimer configuration per line
- PM counter reset status
