What Is CISCO-TC?

CISCO-TC is Cisco's enterprise textual-conventions module, defining a library of reusable data types, analogous to SNMPv2-TC but Cisco-specific, that other Cisco enterprise MIB modules import to declare object syntax consistently. It contains no managed objects of its own and exposes no interface, environment, performance, configuration, or fault data. It has no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status because it is purely a supporting type-definitions module consumed at MIB-compilation time, not an instrumented module with live values. A very large number of Cisco enterprise MIBs, covering everything from environmental monitoring to process and memory statistics, depend on the textual conventions this module defines for their object syntax. It is loaded automatically as a dependency whenever a Cisco enterprise MIB that uses cisco-tc mib types is loaded, and is never polled or deployed independently.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-TC. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples

This module defines only shared data types consumed by other Cisco MIBs, so it has no instrumented objects of its own and sample_objects is empty. There is no direct monitoring scenario for CISCO-TC; its types simply appear as the underlying syntax of objects defined in other Cisco enterprise MIBs an admin actually polls.
