Description: GMPLS-LSR-MIB module
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is GMPLS-LSR-MIB?
GMPLS-LSR-MIB is a vendor-neutral IETF standards MIB defining managed objects for Generalized Multiprotocol Label Switching (GMPLS) routers/label-switch-routers (LSRs), an advanced MPLS/optical-transport signaling technology area that extends MPLS label switching to non-packet interfaces such as TDM, lambda, and fiber. It exposes per-interface signaling capability configuration, plus tables for incoming and outgoing label switched path segments (In-Segment and Out-Segment), including segment direction and TTL-decrement behavior for outgoing segments. Its monitoring value lies in label-switching path health and configuration: tracking in-segment and out-segment table entries reveals which label switched paths are currently established through the LSR and in which direction, letting an operator detect a segment that failed to establish or an unexpected TTL-handling configuration affecting traceroute/diagnostic behavior across the GMPLS network. It explicitly builds on and extends the standard MPLS-LSR-MIB framework to accommodate GMPLS's broader interface types. It is deployed on GMPLS-capable routers and optical switches in carrier transport networks that combine packet and non-packet (optical/TDM) label-switched paths. Engineers can download the GMPLS-LSR-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in GMPLS-LSR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- GMPLS-capable router/optical label switch
- vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, not tied to a specific manufacturer
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll gmplsInterfaceConfTable/gmplsInterfaceConfEntry to check gmplsInterfaceConfSignalingCaps and confirm which signaling capabilities (e.g. RSVP-TE extensions) are enabled on a given GMPLS interface. Checking gmplsInSegmentTable/gmplsInSegmentEntry and gmplsOutSegmentTable/gmplsOutSegmentEntry by gmplsInSegmentDirection/gmplsOutSegmentDirection reveals the currently established incoming and outgoing label-switched path segments, and a missing expected out-segment entry would indicate an LSP that failed to signal correctly. The gmplsOutSegmentTTLDecrement object shows whether TTL is being decremented on the outgoing segment, relevant to diagnosing traceroute visibility across the GMPLS path.
What Can Be Monitored
- interface signaling capabilities
- established incoming LSP segments
- established outgoing LSP segments
- segment direction
- TTL-decrement behavior on outgoing segments

RFC description
Defines managed objects for configuring and monitoring Generalized Multiprotocol Label Switching Label Switching Routers (RFC 4803). Manages GMPLS interfaces, incoming/outgoing segments, and label configuration across packet switching, TDM, and optical switching technologies.
