What Is HDSL2-SHDSL-LINE-MIB?

HDSL2-SHDSL-LINE-MIB is a vendor-neutral IETF standards MIB (RFC 4319) for managing HDSL2 and G.SHDSL symmetric DSL line interfaces, which may reside on either end of the copper line. It exposes span configuration (profile, alarm profile) and status tables covering repeater count, maximum attainable vs. actual line rate, transmission mode, and payload rate. It is used to monitor line-level performance/hardware status — actual vs. maximum attainable line/payload rates reveal degraded copper line conditions, and the alarm profile/status tables surface line faults, directly supporting fault and performance monitoring of the DSL modem hardware. As a standards MIB it typically depends on/complements the DS1/E1 and IF-MIB frameworks for underlying transport layer status. It is deployed on DSL modems, DSLAMs, and routers with integrated HDSL2/SHDSL interfaces in telecom access and enterprise WAN environments, and engineers consulting an HDSL2-SHDSL-LINE-MIB reference will find these span and status tables documented alongside the RFC 4319 object definitions.
