Description: HH3C MIB for Packet-over-SONET/SDH (POS) interface configuration and statistics on H3C devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-POS-MIB?

HH3C-POS-MIB is an H3C (Hangzhou Huawei-3Com) private enterprise MIB for managing Packet-over-SONET/SDH (POS) access application sessions on H3C routing/switching platforms. It defines an application table describing each POS access session's connection mode, operational state, associated interface, and host/source IP addressing, along with packet counters for received, error, and distribution-error packets. This makes it primarily a session-state and error-counter monitoring MIB: an operator can confirm whether a POS access application session is up (hh3cposAppState), and watch hh3cposAppErrPacCounter/hh3cposAppDistrErrCounter to catch packet corruption or distribution problems on the SONET/SDH-carried link, alongside a dedicated trap object for POS events. It builds on the standard IF-MIB ifIndex convention (hh3cposAppIfIndex) to bind sessions to physical interfaces. It is deployed on H3C routers/switches equipped with POS interface cards carrying data over SONET/SDH transport. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the HH3C-POS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-POS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C routers and switches with POS (Packet over SONET/SDH) interface modules

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll hh3cposAppTable/hh3cposAppEntry indexed by hh3cposAppId, checking hh3cposAppState and hh3cposAppConnectMode to confirm a POS access session tied to hh3cposAppIfIndex is established as expected. Rising hh3cposAppErrPacCounter or hh3cposAppDistrErrCounter values relative to hh3cposAppRecvPacCounter would reveal a degrading SONET/SDH transport path or misconfigured distribution, while hh3cposAppHostIP/hh3cposAppSourceIp confirm the session's addressing is correct. The hh3cposTrap object would notify the NMS in real time if such a session drops or errors out.

What Can Be Monitored

  • POS application session state
  • connection mode
  • received/error/distribution-error packet counters
  • session host and source IP addressing

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using hh3cposAppRecvPacCounter OID:

Select an H3C router/switch with POS (Packet over SONET/SDH) interface module as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type hh3cposAppRecvPacCounter into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. The number of packets received by the application. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases sharply between polls relative to its normal baseline, since an unexpected spike often reflects a real change in traffic or activity. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
