Description: General DataComm SC616 shelf controller MIB for large-capacity chassis management and alarm reporting.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is GDCSC616-MIB?
GDCSC616-MIB is a General DataComm (GDC) enterprise MIB for the SC616 shelf controller, which manages a large-capacity chassis housing multiple interface/option cards. It exposes card-identification data (base card type, option card, DTE1/DTE2 card types), firmware code revision, and, notably, chassis-level alarm status and configuration objects. Its monitoring focus is squarely on hardware and fault status: bqlAlarmStatus surfaces the shelf's current alarm condition, bqlCodeRev tracks the controller's firmware revision for patch auditing, and the bqlWhatAreYouTable identifies which card types (bqlBaseCardType, bqlOptionCard, bqlDTE1CardType, bqlDTE2CardType) are physically installed in each shelf slot, together giving administrators visibility into chassis composition and fault conditions. It uses GDC's own enterprise OID tree ('gdc', 'bql') with a dedicated alarm sub-branch (bqlSC616Alarm) rather than depending on external standard MIBs. It is typically deployed on General DataComm SC616 shelf-based chassis in legacy telecom central-office or enterprise WAN environments requiring alarm monitoring across many installed cards. Engineers can download the GDCSC616-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in GDCSC616-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- General DataComm SC616 shelf controller/chassis
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll bqlAlarmStatus to detect an active chassis alarm condition, then cross-reference the bqlWhatAreYouTable (indexed by bqlWhatAreYouIndex) to identify which card -- via bqlBaseCardType, bqlOptionCard, bqlDTE1CardType, or bqlDTE2CardType -- is associated with the affected shelf slot. bqlCodeRev would be checked across cards to confirm consistent firmware versions, and bqlConfigTable (bqlConfigEntry) reviewed for the shelf's current configuration when troubleshooting an alarm.
What Can Be Monitored
- chassis alarm status
- installed card types per slot
- controller firmware revision
- shelf configuration
