Description: Logical server (service profile) association state, power state, FSM lifecycle, and config issues for Cisco UCS blade and rack servers

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-LS-MIB?

CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-LS-MIB is a central Cisco UCS MIB modeling logical servers — i.e., UCS service profiles — including their association state with physical hardware, power state, FSM lifecycle progress, and configuration issue flags, along with related agent policy definitions. This is a key hardware/software status MIB in the UCS family: it reveals whether a service profile is currently associated with a blade, mid-association, or has failed association, its power state (on/off/reset in progress), and any outstanding configuration faults blocking a server from coming into service. It relies on the shared Cisco UCS object-model conventions (Dn, Rn, instance ID, policy level/owner) common to all CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-* MIBs and interacts closely with the EQUIPMENT and other UCS MIBs describing the physical hardware a logical server binds to. It is central to day-to-day operations in Cisco UCS domains, used to verify successful server provisioning, power operations, and to catch stalled or failed service-profile associations. Engineers can download the CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-LS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-LS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco UCS blade servers
  • Cisco UCS rack servers
  • Cisco UCS Manager managed service profiles

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checking on a newly deployed service profile would poll cucsLsAgentPolicyTable/cucsLsAgentPolicyEntry to review cucsLsAgentPolicyMode and cucsLsAgentPolicyCapability governing agent behavior for that logical server, and would separately watch the broader LS association/FSM objects (implied by this MIB's scope) for a profile stuck mid-association or reporting a configuration issue rather than reaching an 'associated, powered-on' steady state. cucsLsAgentPolicyName and cucsLsAgentPolicyDescr identify which policy is involved when troubleshooting an unexpected agent-policy mismatch after a profile template update.

What Can Be Monitored

  • service profile (logical server) association state
  • server power state
  • association/provisioning FSM lifecycle progress
  • outstanding configuration issues/faults
  • agent policy mode and capability
