Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is Nortel-Magellan-Passport-FrameRelayDteMIB?
This MIB manages the Frame Relay DTE (user/access-side) interface and DLCI configuration on Nortel Magellan Passport multiservice switches. It exposes frDteIfEntryTable, which ties a Frame Relay DTE port to a standard interface index, and frDteCidDataTable holding customer identifier assignments per circuit. Monitoring focuses on interface and framer status at the customer-facing Frame Relay access edge - detecting physical line faults or misconfigured DLCIs before they cause a customer outage. It depends on conventions from the standard IETF interfaces model (ifIndex) as well as the shared Passport component/RowStatus framework. It is deployed at customer-facing Frame Relay access ports on Magellan Passport edge switches. Engineers can download the Nortel-Magellan-Passport-FrameRelayDteMIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Nortel-Magellan-Passport-FrameRelayDteMIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Nortel Magellan Passport multiservice switch
- Frame Relay access/edge port
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls frDteIfEntryTable/frDteIfEntryEntry, which correlates a Frame Relay DTE port to its interface index, alongside frDteCidDataTable/frDteCidDataEntry to see the frDteCustomerIdentifier assigned to that access circuit. The frDteFramer objects report the physical-layer/framer status underneath the DTE interface. A framer alarm, or a mismatch between the interface and DLCI state, indicates a physical line fault or misconfigured customer circuit at the frame relay access edge.
What Can Be Monitored
- Frame Relay DTE interface state
- customer identifier per circuit
- framer/physical layer status
- component row status

If a component has a cid attribute, the component's CID is the provisioned value of that attribute; otherwise the component inherits the CID of its parent. The top- level component has a CID of 0. Every operator session also has a CID, which is the CID provisioned for the operator's user ID. An operator will see only the stream data for components having a matching CID. Also, the operator will be allowed to issue commands for only those components which have a matching CID. An operator CID of 0 is used to identify the Network Manager (referred to as 'NetMan' in DPN). This CID matches the CID of any component. Values 1 to 8191 inclusive (equivalent to 'basic CIDs' in DPN) may be assigned to specific customers. |

| INT frDteAdminState | 1.3.6.1.4.1.562.2.4.1.101.23.1.1 | INTEGER | read-only | This attribute indicates the OSI Administrative State of the component. The value locked indicates that the component is administratively prohibited from providing services for its users. A Lock or Lock - force command has been previously issued for this component. When the value is locked, the value of usageState must be idle. The value shuttingDown indicates that the component is administratively permitted to provide service to its existing users only. A Lock command was issued against the component and it is in the process of shutting down. The value unlocked indicates that the component is administratively permitted to provide services for its users. To enter this state, issue an Unlock command to this component. |
| INT frDteOperationalState | 1.3.6.1.4.1.562.2.4.1.101.23.1.2 | INTEGER | read-only | This attribute indicates the OSI Operational State of the component. The value enabled indicates that the component is available for operation. Note that if adminState is locked, it would still not be providing service. The value disabled indicates that the component is not available for operation. For example, something is wrong with the component itself, or with another component on which this one depends. If the value is disabled, the usageState must be idle. |
| INT frDteUsageState | 1.3.6.1.4.1.562.2.4.1.101.23.1.3 | INTEGER | read-only | This attribute indicates the OSI Usage State of the component. | INT frDteLinkOperState | 1.3.6.1.4.1.562.2.4.1.101.25.1.1 | INTEGER | read-only | This attribute describes the operational state of the Link Control protocol. If the interface to the physical link hardware is inactive, the linkOperState is in the down state. The polling state only occurs when the Local Management Interface (LMI) is enabled and the physical link is active. The polling state indicates LMI is polling for its peer. Once communication is established the linkOperState will transition to the active state. If the procedure attribute of the Lmi component is set to none, linkOperState will transition to the active state once the physical link becomes active. |
