frDteLinkOperState

Module: Nortel-Magellan-Passport-FrameRelayDteMIB

OID (symbolic): Nortel-Magellan-Passport-FrameRelayDteMIB::frDteLinkOperState

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.562.2.4.1.101.25.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: This attribute describes the operational state of the Link Control protocol. If the interface to the physical link hardware is inactive, the linkOperState is in the down state.

The polling state only occurs when the Local Management Interface (LMI) is enabled and the physical link is active. The polling state indicates LMI is polling for its peer. Once communication is established the linkOperState will transition to the active state.

If the procedure attribute of the Lmi component is set to none, linkOperState will transition to the active state once the physical link becomes active.

What is frDteLinkOperState?

Reports the operational state of the Link Control protocol underneath this interface: down (physical link inactive), polling (LMI is up and polling for its peer), or active (LMI communication with the peer is established, or LMI is disabled and the physical link is up). An admin stuck at polling for an extended time knows the physical layer is fine but the far end is not responding to LMI, which narrows a Frame Relay troubleshooting session quickly.
