Category: Domain: Power/UPS, Vendor: Liebert

Description: Provides SNMP objects for monitoring and managing Emerson Network Power/Liebert intelligent Power Distribution Units (PDUs).

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is LIEBERT-GP-PDU-MIB?

This MIB, from Liebert (Emerson Network Power), provides SNMP objects for monitoring and managing intelligent Power Distribution Units (PDUs) used in data center racks. It exposes tables covering overall PDU group status, per-PDU tables, power supply (line) tables, receptacle/branch tables, and auxiliary sensor counts, giving a comprehensive view of rack-level power distribution hardware. It is directly aimed at monitoring hardware status such as PDU operational/group status, individual power supply line conditions, receptacle-level power delivery, and auxiliary environmental sensors (e.g., temperature/humidity probes attached to the PDU), making it a core hardware-health MIB for data center power infrastructure. As a Liebert enterprise MIB it generally stands alone with standard SNMPv2-SMI conventions rather than depending on other vendor MIBs. It is deployed in data centers and server rooms using Liebert/Emerson intelligent rack PDUs for power monitoring and capacity management. Engineers can download the LIEBERT-GP-PDU-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in LIEBERT-GP-PDU-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Liebert/Emerson Network Power intelligent rack Power Distribution Units (PDUs)

Monitoring Examples

A facilities team would poll lgpPduGrpSysStatus to get an overall health summary of a group of PDUs, then drill into lgpPduTable and lgpPduPsTable to check individual PDU and power-supply-line status for over-current or fault conditions. The lgpPduRcpTable would be checked for receptacle-level load readings to identify an overloaded outlet, while lgpPduAuxSensorCount indicates how many auxiliary environmental sensors (e.g., temperature probes) are attached and available for polling. A status change in lgpPduRbTable (branch/breaker table) would flag a tripped breaker needing attention.

What Can Be Monitored

  • PDU group status
  • per-PDU operational status
  • power supply line status
  • receptacle/branch power and breaker status
  • auxiliary sensor count (temperature/humidity)

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using lgpPduRbEntryPf OID:

Select a Liebert/Emerson power distribution unit as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type lgpPduRbEntryPf into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. It reports the line-to-neutral Power Factor measurement for this PDU receptacle branch, in hundredths. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is an Integer32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the power factor drops well below 1.0 (e.g. below 0.85), since a low power factor often indicates an inefficient or unbalanced load. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
