Description: Manages Cisco Small Business Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP) neighbor discovery and topology information.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCOSB-CDP-MIB?

CISCOSB-CDP-MIB is a Cisco Small Business (Broadcom FastPath-derived) proprietary MIB implementing CDP (Cisco Discovery Protocol) neighbor discovery. Its objects cover advertised CDP version, source interface, a duplex-mismatch logging enable flag, a counters table (name, value, clear action), a cache-clear action, voice-VLAN ID, a cache table (version, TTL, CDP version), a raw-PDU handling action, voice/native-VLAN-mismatch logging enables, and a secondary-cache table (MAC address, platform, capabilities, voice-VLAN ID, TTL) for additional neighbor entries beyond the primary cache. As a configuration/status MIB it lets an administrator confirm neighbor discovery is working and catch a duplex or VLAN mismatch flagged against a discovered neighbor. It is deployed on Cisco Small Business managed switches. Engineers can download the CISCOSB-CDP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCOSB-CDP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Small Business managed switches

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks rlCdpLogMismatchDuplexEnable and reviews rlCdpCacheTable to catch a duplex mismatch with a discovered CDP neighbor before it causes a performance problem.

What Can Be Monitored

  • CDP neighbor cache and duplex/VLAN mismatch logging
