What Is CISCOSB-IPv6?
CISCOSB-IPv6 is a Cisco Small Business private MIB that manages IPv6 addressing and per-interface IPv6 protocol behavior, including neighbor discovery parameters, autoconfiguration, and MLD version. It falls in the network-configuration category, exposing IP address tables with prefix length and address type alongside a per-interface IPv6 configuration table controlling duplicate-address-detection attempts, ICMP unreachable sending, link MTU, and retransmit timers. Its monitoring role is primarily software/protocol-configuration status rather than hardware health, letting an operator verify that IPv6 autoconfiguration and neighbor discovery are behaving as expected on each interface and catch misconfigured MTU or DAD settings that could cause connectivity issues. It builds on standard IPv6 concepts akin to IP-MIB/IPV6-MIB but is implemented as a CISCOSB private-tree variant rather than the IETF standard. It is used on small-business switches and routers being migrated to or run in dual-stack/IPv6 environments, and network admins can download the CISCOSB-IPv6 MIB to add it to their monitoring toolset.
