rlipv6IcmpErrorRatelimitInterval

Module: CISCOSB-IPv6

OID (symbolic): CISCOSB-IPv6::rlipv6IcmpErrorRatelimitInterval

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.6.1.101.129.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: TimeInterval

Access: read-write

Description: The time interval between tokens being placed in the bucket, each token represents a single ICMP error message. The interval measured in milliseconds.

What is rlipv6IcmpErrorRatelimitInterval?

This read-write value sets the time interval, in milliseconds, between tokens being added to the bucket that rate-limits ICMPv6 error messages, where each token permits one error message to be sent. An admin lengthens this interval to throttle how frequently the device can emit ICMPv6 errors, protecting it from being used to flood a network with error responses. For example, increasing this interval slows the refill rate so a burst of malformed packets triggers fewer ICMPv6 error replies per second.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.6.1.101.129.1
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CISCOSB-IPv6::rlipv6IcmpErrorRatelimitInterval

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.6.1.101.129.1.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CISCOSB-IPv6::rlipv6IcmpErrorRatelimitInterval.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.6.1.101.129.1.1 s <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> rlipv6IcmpErrorRatelimitInterval.1
