What Is AirPair-MIB?
The AirPair-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP module for DragonWave's AirPair family of point-to-point microwave radio links, used for wireless backhaul between towers or remote sites. It exposes configuration and status data covering radio frequency settings, link performance analysis, RADIUS-based management authentication, and cable loss measurements. Administrators rely on it to monitor the hardware health of the radio unit and the quality of the microwave link, including fault alarms that signal signal degradation, hardware failure, or link outages. As a proprietary vendor MIB it has no strong dependency on standard IETF MIBs beyond basic SNMP conventions, though it is typically polled alongside the standard IF-MIB for the underlying interface. It is deployed in outdoor wireless backhaul installations linking cell sites or remote facilities via point-to-point microwave. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the AirPair-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll the radio's frequency and link analysis objects together with the cable loss measurement to detect a degrading microwave link before it fails outright. A rising cable loss value combined with a radio fault alarm and reduced link analysis margin would indicate weather-related fade or an antenna/cable fault requiring a site visit. RADIUS authentication objects would also be checked periodically to confirm management access control to the radio is functioning correctly.
