What Is ACC-ATMVP?

ACC-ATMVP is an ACC/Ericsson enterprise MIB for managing ATM Virtual Path (VP) connections on ACC access/switching devices, covering virtual port configuration and cross-connect-style endpoint management. It exposes per-virtual-port objects such as admin and operational state, signaling protocol, queue mode, congestion status, the underlying physical port, and traffic counters for 1483 bridged, CIP, and tunnel traffic. Its monitoring value lies in ATM virtual path health: an operator can confirm a virtual port is administratively and operationally up, check for congestion flags, and track per-traffic-type counters to spot an ATM VP that has gone down or is experiencing congestion-related loss. It builds on standard ATM Virtual Path/Virtual Channel concepts common to ATM equipment of its era. It is deployed on legacy ACC/Ericsson ATM access devices in older carrier or enterprise WAN environments. Engineers can download the ACC-ATMVP file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ACC-ATMVP. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ACC/Ericsson ATM access device

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll accVpTable / accVpEntry to read oVirtualPortAdminState and oVirtualPortOperState for a given VP, confirming the virtual path is both configured up and actually passing traffic. Checking oVirtualPortCongestion alongside oVirtualPortCountCIP and oVirtualPortCountTunnel reveals whether a specific traffic type is contributing to congestion on that VP. An oVirtualPortOperState that drops to down while oVirtualPortAdminState remains up, combined with a congestion flag set, would indicate the underlying oVirtualPortPhysicalPort is overloaded or has failed.

What Can Be Monitored

  • virtual port admin/operational state
  • signaling protocol
  • queue mode
  • congestion status
  • 1483 bridged traffic count
  • tunnel traffic count
