Category: ZTE Access Node (ZTE-AN) Management
Description: Manages ZTE access node loopback detection configuration to identify and isolate forwarding loops.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ZTE-AN-LOOPBACKDETECT-MIB?
ZTE-AN-LOOPBACKDETECT-MIB is part of ZTE's Access Node product family and implements Layer 2 loopback detection, a common edge-network protection feature that identifies accidental or malicious forwarding loops on subscriber-facing ports. It exposes global configuration objects, per-port loop-detection state and action objects, and a set of notifications for loop-detected/cleared events. It is fundamentally a network/software health monitor: it reports whether a port has entered a loop-detected state, what mitigation action was taken (such as shutting the port down), and raises traps the moment a loop is found so operators are alerted without needing to poll continuously. It relies conceptually on standard Ethernet bridging/Spanning-Tree concepts (IEEE 802.1) even though the objects themselves are ZTE-proprietary. It is typically deployed on access switches and DSLAM/OLT edge equipment to contain broadcast storms caused by accidental cabling loops at customer premises. Engineers can download the ZTE-AN-LOOPBACKDETECT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZTE-AN-LOOPBACKDETECT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- ZTE access node (DSLAM/OLT/Ethernet access switch)
Monitoring Examples
zxAnLoopbackDetectGlobalObjects would hold the feature's global enable state and detection interval, while zxAnLoopbackDetectObjects most plausibly contains a per-port table recording whether a loop has been detected and what action (such as port shutdown) was taken. An operator polling that table would spot a port that flipped into a loop-detected state, explaining a sudden broadcast storm on the segment, and zxAnLoopbackDetectNotifications would deliver an SNMP trap the instant the loop condition is found so the NMS can alert immediately.
What Can Be Monitored
- global loopback-detection enable state
- per-port loop-detected status
- mitigation action taken on a looped port
- loop detected/cleared trap events

RFC description
Loopback detection management for ZTE access networks. Detects network loops and optionally shuts down looped interfaces.
Start monitoring ZTE access node (DSLAM/OLT/Ethernet access switch) (per-port loop-detected/mitigation-action status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
