Description: Eicon Technology router MIB for managing routing functionality on Eicon WAN communications platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is EICON-MIB-ROUTER?

EICON-MIB-ROUTER is Eicon Technology's proprietary MIB for managing routing functionality on Eicon WAN communications platforms (routers/multiprotocol WAN adapters). It exposes identity and inventory data (product name, release version/date), operational state, and capacity information such as number of ports, maximum circuits, and currently available circuits. It directly supports hardware/software status monitoring: rtOperState and rtAdminStateCtr reveal whether the router is up and administratively enabled, rtTimeUp reflects device uptime, and rtReleaseVersion/rtReleaseDate confirm the installed software/firmware version, while rtAvailableCircuits versus rtMaxCircuits shows remaining WAN circuit capacity. It is a self-contained vendor MIB with no apparent dependency on other standard MIBs. It is deployed on Eicon WAN routers used for multiprotocol/ISDN and packet WAN connectivity in enterprise branch and remote-access networks. Engineers can download the EICON-MIB-ROUTER file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in EICON-MIB-ROUTER. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Eicon Technology WAN router

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll rtOperState and rtTimeUp to confirm the router is up and see how long it has been running since last reboot, cross-checking rtReleaseVersion/rtReleaseDate to verify the expected firmware is installed. Comparing rtAvailableCircuits against rtMaxCircuits and rtNumberOfPorts shows whether the router is approaching its provisioned WAN circuit capacity, which combined with a falling rtAvailableLANMapping count would indicate a resource-exhaustion problem building before new circuits fail to establish.

What Can Be Monitored

  • router operational/admin state
  • device uptime
  • software release version/date
  • available vs maximum circuits
  • port count
