Category: Vendor: Dell

Description: Manages Dell Remote Access Controller (RAC/iDRAC) out-of-band server management functions.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is DELL-RAC-MIB?

DELL-RAC-MIB is a Dell enterprise MIB for the Remote Access Controller (RAC), the predecessor/sibling technology to Dell's iDRAC, providing SNMP-based out-of-band management of Dell PowerEdge servers. It exposes management-and-status data for the RAC card itself and, through it, visibility into server hardware health independent of the host operating system. Its core monitoring value is hardware/software status: RAC MIBs of this class typically expose remote-access session status, firmware/version information, and links into chassis health (power supply, temperature, fan) sensors reachable via the out-of-band controller, letting administrators check server health even when the OS is down or unresponsive. It commonly complements Dell's broader OpenManage MIB-Dell-10892 chassis-health MIB, since the RAC is the out-of-band access path to that same hardware. It is deployed on Dell PowerEdge rack and blade servers as the SNMP interface to the embedded remote-access management controller. Engineers can download the DELL-RAC-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DELL-RAC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Dell PowerEdge server (via Remote Access Controller/RAC)

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were provided for this MIB, so specific table or object names cannot be grounded to a concrete scenario; in typical Dell RAC MIB usage, an administrator would poll for RAC firmware version, active remote session count, and network configuration status to confirm out-of-band manageability of a server is intact, especially before relying on it for recovery when the host OS is unreachable.
