What Is CISCO-XGCP-EXT-MIB?
CISCO-XGCP-EXT-MIB extends the base CISCO-XGCP-MIB in Cisco's voice-over-packet/media gateway control protocol (XGCP, an MGCP superset) technology area, adding configuration objects for call control behavior on Cisco media gateways. It exposes configuration-oriented data: default call-control parameters for the local gateway and per-circuit call-control profiles that can be applied to trunk groups or circuits used for call establishment. Rather than hardware health, its monitoring value is in verifying software/service configuration correctness — confirming DTMF relay mode and codec selection, bearer/control service types, and timer settings are consistent across circuits, which affects call setup success and voice quality. It is a direct extension of, and thus dependent on, CISCO-XGCP-MIB for its base object structure and conformance groups. It is typically deployed on Cisco voice gateways and media gateway controllers handling AAL2/VoIP trunk circuits in carrier or enterprise telephony networks. Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll cxeCallCtrlConfigTable/cxeCallCtrlConfigEntry to check cxeCallCtrlVoIpDtmfRelayMode and cxeCallCtrlVoIpDtmfCodec, confirming DTMF tones are relayed with the expected codec on a given circuit. Comparing cxeCallCtrlControlServiceType and cxeCallCtrlBearerServiceType against expected values for a circuit can reveal a misprovisioned trunk profile causing call failures. Monitoring cxeCallCtrlNetNseTimer and cxeCallCtrlRtcpRcvTimer settings helps diagnose premature call teardown or RTCP timeout issues on AAL2/VoIP circuits.
