Description: Manages VDSL line provisioning, attainable rates, band plan, and performance monitoring on the Ericsson Diax IP DSLAM.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is PEA-VDSL-IPDSLAM?
PEA-VDSL-IPDSLAM is an Ericsson Diax IP DSLAM proprietary MIB for managing VDSL/VDSL2 line pairs, covering line provisioning, attainable bit rates, band plan and PSD limiting masks, and performance monitoring, filling a gap left by the general ADSL-LINE-MIB before a dedicated ADSL2/VDSL2 IETF MIB existed. It exposes upstream and downstream PSD limiting-mask tables with break-point definitions, plus VDSL2 status and profile/channel objects. It is used to monitor the software configuration and operational status of VDSL2 lines, including which spectral mask and channel profile is applied and the resulting line status, which helps identify misconfigured masks or profile mismatches that degrade attainable line rates rather than exposing chassis-level hardware sensors. It explicitly builds on and supplements the IETF ADSL-LINE-MIB (RFC 2662/RFC 3440) and the vendor's own PEA-ADSL-IPDSLAM module. It is deployed on Ericsson Diax IP DSLAM platforms delivering VDSL2 broadband access to subscribers. Engineers can download the PEA-VDSL-IPDSLAM file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PEA-VDSL-IPDSLAM. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ericsson Diax IP DSLAM
- VDSL/VDSL2 access equipment
Monitoring Examples
An engineer would inspect vdslLineConfPhysVdslLimitingMaskDnTable/Entry and the corresponding Up table, checking limitingMaskDnBpToneIndex and limitingMaskDnBpPsd break points against the provisioned band plan to confirm the correct PSD mask is enforced per line. Polling vdsl2Status alongside vdsl2ProfileChannel reveals the active VDSL2 profile and current line state, useful for diagnosing lower-than-expected attainable rates. A mismatch between limitingMaskDnBypassOutbandPsdFilter settings and expected regulatory limits could explain interference complaints from a subscriber.
What Can Be Monitored
- VDSL2 line status
- PSD limiting mask break points (up/down)
- VDSL2 profile/channel selection
- band plan / outband PSD filter settings

| peaVdslIpDslam | 1.3.6.1.4.1.193.72.300.80 | The IP DSLAM software supports a number of standard and proprietary MIBs. This MIB module defines objects for the management of a pair of VDSL modems at each end of the VDSL line. For general DSL purposes the ADSL-LINE-MIB (RFC2662 and RFC3440) is used supplemented with the PEA-ADSL-IPDSLAM. The reason for this MIB module is that a new ADSL2/VDSL2 specific ADSL LINE MIB is yet not available from IETF. | ||

A third index identifies the specific segment of the sub-carriers status addressed. | |

Several status parameters in this table are retrieved in segments. The first segment of the status information is retrieved with vdsl2SCStatusSegment=1, the second segment is retrieved with vdsl2SCStatusSegment=2, and so on. When any status parameter is retrieved in n segments where n<8) then, for that parameter, GET operations for the rest segment numbers (n+1 to 8) are responded with a value that indicates: No measurement could be done. This table is from draft-ietf-adslmib-vdsl2-01.txt. |
| OCT vdsl2SCStatusSnr | 1.3.6.1.4.1.193.72.300.80.2.5.1.5 | OCTET STRING | read-only | The SNR Margin per sub-carrier group, expressing the ratio between the received signal power and received noise power per sub-scriber group. It is an array of 512 octets, designed for supporting up to 512 (downstream) sub-carriers groups and can be retrieved in a single segment. The number of utilized octets on downstream direction depends on NSds, and on upstream direction it depends on NSus. This value is referred here as NS. Octet i (0 <= i < NS) is set to a value in the range 0 to 254 to indicate that the respective downstream or upstream sub- carrier group i has SNR of: (-32 + Xdsl2SubcarrierSnr(i)/2) in dB (i.e., -32 to 95dB). The special value 255 means that no measurement could be done for the sub-carrier group because it is out of the PSD mask passband or that the noise PSD is out of range to be represented. Each value in this array is 8 bits wide. This table is from draft-ietf-adslmib-vdsl2-01.txt. |
| OCT vdsl2SCStatusBitsAlloc | 1.3.6.1.4.1.193.72.300.80.2.5.1.10 | OCTET STRING | read-only | The bits allocation per sub-carrier. An array of 256 octets (512 nibbles), designed for supporting up to 512 (downstream) sub-carriers. When more then 512 sub-carriers are supported, the status information is reported through multiple (up to 8) segments. The first segment is then used for the first 512 sub-carriers. The second segment is used for the sub-carriers 512 to 1023 and so on. The aggregate number of utilized nibbles on downstream direction (in all segments) depends on NSds, and on upstream direction it depends on NSus. This value is referred here as NS. The segment number is in vdsl2SCStatusSegment. Nibble i (0 <= i < MIN(NS-(segment-1)*512,512)) in each segment is set to a value in the range 0 to 15 to indicate that the respective downstream or upstream sub-carrier j (j=(segement-1)*512+i) has the same amount of bits allocation. This table is from draft-ietf-adslmib-vdsl2-01.txt. |
| OCT vdsl2SCStatusGainAlloc | 1.3.6.1.4.1.193.72.300.80.2.5.1.15 | OCTET STRING | read-only | The gain allocation per sub-carrier. An array of 512 16-bits values, designed for supporting up to 512 (downstream) sub- carriers. When more then 512 sub-carriers are supported, the status information is reported through multiple (up to 8) segments. The first segment is then used for the first 512 sub-carriers. The second segment is used for the sub-carriers 512 to 1023 and so on. The aggregate number of utilized octets on downstream direction depends on NSds, and on upstream direction it depends on NSus. This value is referred here as NS. The segment number is in vdsl2SCStatusSegment. Value i (0 <= i < MIN(NS-(segment-1)*512,512)) in each segment is set to a value in the range 0 to 4093 to indicate that the respective downstream or upstream sub-carrier j (j=(segement-1)*512+i) has the same amount of gain value. The gain value is represented as a multiple of 1/512 on linear scale. Each value in this array is 16 bits wide and is stored in big endian format.
