Category: Nortel Magellan Passport

Description: Defines SNMP objects for PORS virtual circuit management and statistics on Nortel Magellan Passport ATM switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Nortel-Magellan-Passport-PorsVcMIB?

Nortel-Magellan-Passport-PorsVcMIB is a Nortel Networks (Magellan Passport WAN switch) proprietary MIB managing the PORS routing-selection (rtgRs) component's virtual-circuit route selection. Its row-status table controls component creation/deletion, a selected-route table records route cost/delay metric, bumping priority, reason for no route, unmet attributes, and gateway cost metric, a controls table records selection attributes, operation mode, and last-selection time, and a path-attributes table records source ID and remote name. As a configuration/status MIB it lets an administrator diagnose why a particular virtual circuit's route was rejected via the reason-for-no-route object. It is deployed on Nortel Magellan Passport WAN switches. Engineers can download the Nortel-Magellan-Passport-PorsVcMIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Nortel-Magellan-Passport-PorsVcMIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Nortel Magellan Passport WAN switches

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks rtgRsReasonForNoRoute to diagnose why PORS route selection failed for a specific virtual circuit on a Nortel Magellan Passport switch.

What Can Be Monitored

  • PORS route selection status and rejection reasons
