Description: Provides SNMP management objects for voice interface configuration and call statistics on Nortel Magellan Passport switches.

What Is Nortel-Magellan-Passport-VoiceMIB?

This is a Nortel Magellan Passport proprietary MIB covering voice interface configuration and call/customer data on the Passport wide-area switching platform. It exposes provisioning objects for voice service components, including row-status-controlled service tables, customer identifier (CID) data used for billing/tenant association, and per-interface voice trunk entries. Monitoring focus is primarily on configuration state and service availability -- confirming a voice service component's row status is active and that its customer identifier and interface mapping are correctly provisioned -- rather than deep hardware telemetry, since the MIB does not expose CPU, memory, or temperature objects. It follows the same Nortel Passport component-instance conventions (component name, storage type, row status) used throughout the Magellan/MsCarrier Passport MIB family, and is layered on the switch's underlying voice/TDM interface hardware. It is used in carrier and enterprise deployments where Nortel Magellan Passport switches provide multiplexed voice trunk services to customers over a WAN backbone, and technicians can download the Nortel-Magellan-Passport-VoiceMIB file to load it into their MIB browser for provisioning reference.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Nortel-Magellan-Passport-VoiceMIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Nortel Magellan Passport switch
  • voice trunk/TDM interface card
  • Nortel Magellan Passport wide-area switch (voice trunk/TDM interface)

Monitoring Examples

An operator would check vsRowStatusTable/vsRowStatusEntry to verify a voice service component is active, then cross-reference vsCidDataTable for the vsCustomerIdentifier assigned to that service and vsIfEntryTable for the underlying interface mapping. If a voice trunk stops carrying calls, the first check is whether vsRowStatus has reverted from "active" or whether the customer identifier binding has been removed. There are no call-count or utilization counters exposed, so troubleshooting relies on provisioning-state verification rather than traffic statistics.

What Can Be Monitored

  • voice service row status
  • customer identifier assignment
  • voice interface mapping
  • component storage type
