rtgRsPathAttributeToMinimize

Module: Nortel-Magellan-Passport-PorsVcMIB

OID (symbolic): Nortel-Magellan-Passport-PorsVcMIB::rtgRsPathAttributeToMinimize

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.562.2.4.1.40.2.12.1.11

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This attribute indicates whether a route should be selected on the basis of minimizing the route cost or the route delay. Each trunk has a cost and a delay metric associated with it. The cost of a route is the sum of the trunk cost metrics for all trunks included in the route. The delay of a route is the sum of the trunk delay metrics for all trunks included in the route. The delay metric of a trunk is equal to half the measuredRoundTripDelay operational attribute of the trunk.

What is rtgRsPathAttributeToMinimize?

Selects whether RouteSelector optimizes the route for lowest total cost or lowest total delay, since each trunk carries both a cost and a delay metric. Choose delay-minimization for latency-sensitive traffic and cost-minimization when trunk cost matters more than speed.
