What Is Nortel-Magellan-Passport-NetSentryMIB?

Nortel-Magellan-Passport-NetSentryMIB is a Nortel Magellan/MsCarrier Passport proprietary MIB controlling the addition and deletion of virtual-router NetSentry (vrNs, traffic-filtering/logging) instance components on the Passport wide-area switching platform's component-based management architecture, where every provisionable object is represented as a named, creatable/deletable "component". Its row-status table records each component's name, storage type, and index, alongside a provisioning table for configured drop conditions and a statistics table tracking packets processed/failed and various drop-reason counters (no memory, HSA failure, depth exceeded, null filter, etc.). As a configuration MIB it lets an administrator provision or remove virtual-router NetSentry (vrNs, traffic-filtering/logging) instance components and confirm their operational status. It is deployed on Nortel Magellan/MsCarrier Passport wide-area switching platforms. Engineers can download the Nortel-Magellan-Passport-NetSentryMIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Nortel-Magellan-Passport-NetSentryMIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Nortel Magellan/MsCarrier Passport wide-area switching platforms

Monitoring Examples

An administrator creates a new virtual-router NetSentry (vrNs, traffic-filtering/logging) instance component via this MIB's row-status table when provisioning that service on a Nortel Passport switch, then confirms its operational status came up correctly.
