What Is MPLS-LSR-STD-MIB?

MPLS-LSR-STD-MIB is a vendor-neutral IETF standards MIB (RFC 3813) for managing Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) Label Switching Router functions, modeling how incoming labels map to outgoing labels via cross-connect entries on MPLS-enabled interfaces. It exposes interface-level MPLS configuration and capacity data—label ranges, total and available bandwidth per interface—along with performance counters and label cross-connect/switching state, plus notification objects for LSR-related events. Its monitoring focus is on the operational/software-layer status of label switching—available label space exhaustion, bandwidth utilization per MPLS interface, and interface performance—rather than general chassis hardware sensors. It explicitly builds on the base MPLS architecture defined in RFC 3031 and typically works alongside the MPLS-TE-MIB and IF-MIB (interfaces) since each mplsInterfaceEntry references an ifIndex. It is deployed on MPLS-capable routers in service-provider and enterprise WAN cores where label-switched paths carry traffic.
