IANA-ADDRESS-FAMILY-NUMBERS-MIB is an IANA-maintained infrastructure module that defines a single textual convention, AddressFamilyNumbers, enumerating the registered address family identifiers such as IPv4, IPv6, IPX, and AppleTalk. It does not belong to any single vendor or technology area; instead it supplies a shared data type that other MIBs import when they need to tag an address with its family. The module exposes no runtime instance data of its own -- no interfaces, counters, environmental readings, or fault traps -- so it cannot be polled to reveal hardware or software status by itself. Its role is purely as a dependency: numerous multi-protocol MIBs (such as those covering routing, VPNs, or multicast) reference this convention to interpret address-typed objects correctly, and a MIB developer consulting the IANA-ADDRESS-FAMILY-NUMBERS-MIB OID list is simply confirming which numeric code corresponds to a given address family. It is deployed indirectly, compiled alongside any MIB that needs standardized address-family typing rather than monitored as a standalone module.

There are no sample runtime objects because this module defines only the AddressFamilyNumbers textual convention, not managed objects with instance data. An administrator would never poll this MIB directly for status; instead, a management tool's MIB compiler loads it so that objects of type AddressFamilyNumbers in other MIBs (e.g. a table column indicating whether an address is IPv4 or IPv6) can be decoded and displayed correctly. In short, this is a supporting definitions module, not a monitoring target.
