What Is MPLS-TC-STD-MIB?

MPLS-TC-STD-MIB is an IETF standards-track (RFC 3811) textual-conventions module that defines the common SNMP data types — such as label ranges, tunnel identifiers, and LSP-related enumerations — used by every other standard MPLS MIB module (e.g., MPLS-LSR-MIB, MPLS-TE-MIB) for managing Multiprotocol Label Switching networks. It contains no scalar or tabular data objects of its own, so it exposes no interface, environment, performance, configuration, or fault/trap information directly. It is not used to monitor uptime, temperature, CPU/memory load, power/fan health, or software version — those belong to general-purpose device MIBs, while the actual MPLS-specific label-switching state is reported by the MPLS MIB modules that import these conventions. As the common foundation for the whole MPLS MIB family, virtually every vendor's MPLS implementation MIB depends on this module. Consulting the MPLS-TC-STD-MIB RFC directly (RFC 3811) is the best way to understand the exact semantics of these shared label and tunnel type definitions. It is loaded as a prerequisite whenever an SNMP manager manages MPLS-capable routers or switches from any vendor.

MPLS-TC-STD-MIB has no sample_objects and defines no runtime data — it is purely a textual-conventions module supplying shared types to the MPLS MIB family. There is no polling scenario here directly; an admin monitoring label-switched paths would instead query MPLS-LSR-MIB or MPLS-TE-MIB tables that import these conventions.
