Description: Huawei Next Generation ADSL line MIB for monitoring ADSL2/ADSL2+ line parameters, performance, and alarm thresholds.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HUAWEI-NGADSL-LINE-MIB?
HUAWEI-NGADSL-LINE-MIB is a Huawei broadband-access MIB that extends the IETF's RFC 4706 ADSL2-LINE MIB to cover Next-Generation ADSL (ADSL2/ADSL2+) line cards on Huawei access equipment. It exposes line-level configuration, physical-layer performance statistics, and alarm-threshold data for each subscriber's DSL line. Its monitoring purpose is squarely hardware/physical-layer health: tracking synchronized upstream/downstream rate, signal-to-noise margin, line attenuation, and error-second counts lets an operator detect a degrading copper line, crosstalk, or an intermittent sync loss before the subscriber experiences a full outage. It is explicitly built as an extension of the standard RFC 4706 ADSL2-LINE MIB rather than a wholly independent design. It is deployed on Huawei DSLAM/MSAN broadband access nodes serving fixed-line ADSL2/ADSL2+ subscribers. Engineers can download the HUAWEI-NGADSL-LINE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-NGADSL-LINE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Huawei DSLAM/MSAN broadband access equipment
Monitoring Examples
No sample object names were provided for this module, so specific leaf names cannot be cited, but its extension of RFC 4706 implies tables analogous to adsl2LineTable and adsl2PerfDataTable scoped per subscriber line. An operator would poll such a line's configuration and performance data to track synchronized upstream/downstream rate and signal-to-noise margin. A rising error-second count or a falling noise margin on one line, while neighboring lines stay stable, points to copper degradation or crosstalk affecting that specific subscriber's connection.
What Can Be Monitored
- line sync rate (upstream/downstream)
- signal-to-noise margin
- line attenuation
- error-second counters
- line up/down status
- alarm threshold state

The following points apply to this table: 1. The main purpose of this table is to hold the results of a DELT. 2. This table also holds parameters obtained at line initialization time. 3. The rows in this table are volatile; that is, they are lost if the SNMP agent is rebooted. 4. Due to the large OCTET STRING attributes in this table, the worst case memory requirements for this table are very high. The manager may use the row status attribute of this table to delete rows in order to reclaim memory. 5. The manager may create rows in this table. The SNMP agent may create rows in this table. Only the manager may delete rows in this table. 6. The maximum number of rows allowable in this table is indicated by the scalar attribute adsl2ScalarSCMaxInterfaces. The number of rows available in this table is indicated by the scalar attribute adsl2ScalarSCAvailInterfaces. 7. The SNMP agent is permitted to create rows in this table when a DELT completes successfully or when line initialization occurs. It is not mandatory for the SNMP agent to create rows in this table; hence, it may be necessary for the manager to create rows in this table before any results can be stored. 8. If the manager attempts to create a row in this table and there are no more rows available, the creation attempt will fail, and the response to the SNMP SET PDU will contain the error noCreation(11). 9. If the SNMP agent attempts to create a row in this table and there are no more rows available, the creation attempt will fail, and the attribute adsl2LineCmndConfLdsfFailReason will indicate the reason for the failure. The failure reason will be either tableFull(10) or noResources(11). 10. Step 3. : The row in the adsl2SCStatusTable where the : results will be stored does not yet exist so : the SNMP agent attempts to create the row.
