Description: Huawei SDL (Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line) MIB for managing SDSL line parameters, performance, and provisioning.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HUAWEI-SDL-MIB?

HUAWEI-SDL-MIB is a Huawei-proprietary module for managing Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line (SDSL) ports on Huawei broadband access equipment. It exposes port configuration data such as provisioned line rate and mode alongside operational line-performance data like signal quality, attenuation, and error statistics. It is used to monitor the hardware status of each SDSL port, including physical line up/down state, synchronization status, and error-second counts that indicate a degrading copper pair. The module parallels standard xDSL management conventions (similar in spirit to HDSL2-SHDSL-MIB) though implemented with Huawei-specific objects rather than an IETF standard. It is typically deployed on Huawei DSLAMs or access nodes provisioning symmetric business-grade DSL circuits. Engineers can download the HUAWEI-SDL-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-SDL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei DSLAM/access nodes
  • SDSL broadband access equipment

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll a port table (the module's own description calls it a means to "maintain SDL ports", implying an hwSdlPortTable/hwSdlPortEntry) for line synchronization state, actual sync rate, and noise margin on each SDSL port. A port reporting loss of synchronization or a sync rate far below its provisioned rate points to a copper-pair fault or excessive line attenuation. Rising error-second counts on an otherwise-synced port would flag a marginal line worth proactive replacement.

What Can Be Monitored

  • SDSL port sync status
  • provisioned vs actual line rate
  • signal-to-noise margin/attenuation
  • line error-second counts
  • port provisioning configuration
