What Is ASCEND-MIBMADDSLOTCONFIG-MIB?
ASCEND-MIBMADDSLOTCONFIG-MIB is a proprietary Ascend Communications MIB for configuring multi-ADSL line cards ('MADD' cards) within slots of an Ascend DSLAM chassis. It exposes chassis inventory and provisioning data: which card type occupies each slot, how many DSL ports it provides, and per-card provisioning parameters. This is primarily a hardware-status and inventory MIB, used to confirm a slot's card is present, correctly identified, and administratively enabled, and to detect a card that has gone missing, failed to initialize, or reports a mismatched type. It is generally used together with the vendor's line-specific DSL MIBs (e.g. ADSL/SDSL/VDSL modules) that report the actual per-port line state on the cards this MIB configures. It was deployed in central-office DSLAM chassis operated by telcos delivering ADSL broadband service. Engineers can download the ASCEND-MIBMADDSLOTCONFIG-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ASCEND-MIBMADDSLOTCONFIG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ascend DSLAM chassis
- Ascend multi-ADSL line card
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll the slot/card configuration table (an ascendMaddSlotTable/ascendMaddCardEntry style structure) to verify each slot reports the expected card type and port count, and would treat a slot suddenly reporting 'empty' or 'card-fault' as evidence of a hardware failure or a card that reset unexpectedly. Because no sample objects were supplied, these names are a plausible reconstruction from the described slot-configuration purpose, not confirmed source identifiers.
What Can Be Monitored
- slot occupancy
- card type identification
- port count per card
- card admin/operational status
- card provisioning state
