Description: Manages Cisco Small Business LLDP (Link Layer Discovery Protocol) neighbor discovery and TLV configuration.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCOSB-LLDP-MIB?

CISCOSB-LLDP-MIB is a Cisco Small Business private MIB that extends standard LLDP (Link Layer Discovery Protocol) with vendor-specific configuration options, including auto-advertisement of management addresses and LLDP-MED settings. It exposes objects for enabling/disabling LLDP globally, per-port advertisement status, discovery/duplex mode, and tables of locally advertised management address information. Its monitoring value lies in neighbor discovery and topology/configuration status—confirming LLDP is active on the right ports and that management address advertisements are correctly propagating, which helps detect cabling/topology misconfigurations. It is a Cisco extension layered on top of the standard IEEE 802.1AB LLDP MIB (LLDP-MIB) and Cisco's LLDP-MED handling. It is deployed on Cisco Small Business switches to support automatic network topology discovery for management tools like FindIT. Engineers can download the CISCOSB-LLDP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCOSB-LLDP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Small Business switch

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would check rlLldpEnabled and rlLldpAutoAdvPortsStatus to confirm LLDP and address auto-advertisement are active on expected ports, then browse rlLldpAutoAdvLocPortManAddrTable/rlLldpAutoAdvLocPortManAddrEntry (indexed by rlLldpAutoAdvLocPortNum) to see which management addresses are being advertised out each port. If a port that should be advertising an address shows rlLldpAutoAdvManAddrNone instead, it indicates a misconfiguration preventing neighbor discovery tools from finding that device. rlLldpDuMode and rlLldpClearRx help verify the discovery/reception mode and reset stale neighbor data.

What Can Be Monitored

  • LLDP enable/disable status
  • per-port LLDP advertisement status
  • advertised management addresses
  • LLDP duplex/discovery mode
  • LLDP-MED configuration
