Description: Manages Apple Bonjour/mDNS gateway service configuration on Marvell switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is RADLAN-BONJOUR-MIB?
This is a RADLAN private MIB, RADLAN being the embedded switch-software vendor whose stack underlies many Marvell-chipset-based switches, for managing Apple Bonjour/mDNS gateway/relay functionality on the switch. It exposes configuration data controlling whether and how the switch republishes or relays Bonjour (multicast DNS) service advertisements across VLANs or subnets, rather than traffic counters or hardware sensors. Its monitoring/management value is narrow and configuration-focused, confirming the Bonjour publish/gateway feature (rlBonjourPublish) is enabled as expected on a switch that's meant to bridge Bonjour discovery traffic, such as AirPrint/AirPlay discovery, across otherwise-segmented VLANs, a software-feature-status check rather than a hardware health check. It is a vendor extension layered on top of standard mDNS/Bonjour protocol behavior rather than a formal IETF standard. It is deployed on Marvell-chipset-based smart/managed switches, including various OEM and Cisco Small Business-class devices using the RADLAN software base, in small business or campus networks that need cross-VLAN Apple device discovery. Engineers can download the RADLAN-BONJOUR-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RADLAN-BONJOUR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Marvell-chipset-based managed/smart switch (RADLAN software base)
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would check the rlBonjourPublish object to confirm whether Bonjour/mDNS relay-publishing is enabled on the switch, which determines whether AirPrint or AirPlay devices on one VLAN can be discovered by clients on another VLAN. If cross-VLAN Bonjour discovery is failing for end users, this object would be the first thing checked to rule out the feature simply being disabled. Beyond this single published/enabled flag, no other runtime objects were captured for this MIB.
What Can Be Monitored
- Bonjour/mDNS publish-gateway enabled status
